Wow, what a year! Despite it not being the best year for many, we have had many highs at Diverse.
The year began with 2 shows, one at Her Majesty's Theatre in London's West End which was an amazing day for our stage 2 and 3 students. We performed 5 routines in the home of Phantom of the Opera. The following week our whole school took part in Showcase 2020 at Hertford Theatre which we thought was our best yet.
In March, like many other theatre schools we switched to Zoom lessons. We created videos, learnt LAMDA exams, competed in competitions and even made a music video.
LAMDA exams were taken in July and were our best results ever! Half of all students received a mark of 90 or above with Beth receiving a perfect mark of 100. Well done to you all!
In September we held our annual presentation event, once again via Zoom! Here we celebrated all our student's achievements including LAMDA certificates, IDR Awards and trophies for a few including Grace who won our Student of the Year 2020.
We also celebrated all our festival winners. We had never before entered competitions but lockdown gave us the perfect opportunity. We amazed ourselves by winning around 50 medals! This is now something we are considering entering in person in the future which is very exciting!
In November sadly our annual Nostalgia Day at the Memorial Hall was obviously cancelled this year. Instead we recorded our songs instead as part of the 11/11 Challenge for the Royal British Legion. After initially setting a target of £400, we were thrilled to raise £665 in total! Thank you to everyone involved.
We ended our year with all our stage 1 and 2 students being presented with their IDR Awards in our December lessons and a Christmas party lesson.
Well done to everyone for a fantastic, yet different, year. You've proven how adaptable you are, a skill that is required throughout life, and we are very proud of each and every one of you.
Here's to a great 2021!
